Stunning Victorian secretaire bookcase in figured mahogany. It features a large arched, central glazed display section flanked by two slender glazed doors with adjustable shelving, all set above a multi-functional base. The central section of the base contains a drop-front drawer that reveals a leather top desk with small drawers and pigeon holes, a common feature in secretaire bookcases from early to mid 19th century. Beneath this, split level cabinets with generous storage capacity. The top cornice is beautifully adorned with intricate scrolling foliate carvings and corbels while the piece stands on a solid plinth base. A wonderful example of classic Victorian craftsmanship and a great addition to a sitting room, study or office.
