Victorian iron bound oak silver chest. A striking, solid piece, made from dark, 19th century oak, with heavy iron banding and wrought iron handles. It includes a brass name plate for F. Ward Esq. and displays a wonderful patina. The lid lifts up to reveal a generous storage interior. In bygone days, these chests were commonly used for storing silver and valuables. These days, they make characterful coffee tables or storage trunks for storing blankets and other items.
