A fine Victorian walnut pier cabinet of elegant proportions, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The cabinet features a beautifully figured walnut veneer with delicate inlaid detailing to the frieze and uprights, complemented by decorative ormolu mounts which frame the glazed door. The single glazed door opens to reveal two internal shelves, all set against a rich crimson ground with gilt foliate decoration, creating a striking and theatrical interior. The glass panel is finely etched with a subtle trailing design, adding further refinement.

Raised on turned bun feet, the cabinet stands solid and true, with a warm, mellow patina throughout. A highly decorative yet practical piece, ideal for displaying porcelain, silver, books or treasured objects.
