Beautiful embroidered lamp shade in Crewel style. Crewelwork is a technique that uses fine wool typically on linen. It has a textured appearance. It’s also one of the oldest forms of surface embroidery with its most famous early example being the 11th century Bayeux Tapestry! So while this lamp is not ancient (in fact it’s a contemporary piece) the shade does give a bit of history and a lovely warm glow.
