A beautiful pair of Georgian oak open armchairs, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, with simple, well-proportioned construction. 

Each chair has a gently shaped ladder back with broad upper rail and horizontal splats, flanked by upright supports with subtle reeded detailing. The long, gracefully curved arms terminate in rounded hand rests and are supported on turned baluster uprights, adding a restrained decorative element to the otherwise practical design.

The chairs retain their solid oak boarded seats, with gently shaped front edges, raised on square legs united by substantial stretchers. Combining honest vernacular construction with elegant period proportions and a wonderfully aged, timeworn finish these chairs would add some fabulous character to your home.
