A beautifully proportioned late Victorian chest of drawers in richly patinated mahogany, offering both elegance and practicality.  It is solid, sturdy and full of character, a fine example of late 19th century craft.  Comprising three graduated drawers, each with cockbeaded edges and fitted with turned wooden knobs, which are quite unique in themselves.  They appear to have a faux tortoiseshell pattern, likely crafted from stained hardwood, adding a subtle decorative flourish. The drawers glide smoothly and retain their original locks and escutcheons.  

Raised on shaped bracket feet and boasting a gently overhanging top, this chest would sit equally well in a traditional bedroom and country house setting as well as in a modern home, where antiques can lend texture and interest.
