A rare find carved oak spice cupboard from the 19th century with a wonderful aged patina. Features intricate hand-carved panels with floral motifs and scrolling foliate boarders. Includes a lockable door and rustic metal escutcheon, indicative of its period. The interior has a compact four drawer configuration, with two small over two wide drawers with original metal ring pulls.
Back in the day, these miniature cupboards were used for housing an array of items, from valuable spices, herbal remedies, small medical tools, jewellery, as confiture or even smoker’s cabinets. Today, whether it’s for a kitchen, dining room, bathroom or hallway, there’s no end to its use and beauty!
