This mahogany glazed bookcase or display cabinet dates from the Regency period, c.1820.  The upper section has twin glazed doors featuring Gothic astragal glazing bars, opening to adjustable shelves.  The lower section with a pair of panelled doors provides enclosed storage of generous proportions.  The cabinet stands on shaped bracket feet, with a clean and refined silhouette typical of the Regency period.  The mahogany has developed a rich warm patina over two centuries, highlighting the depth and quality of the timber.  

At once practical and decorative, it would make a superb addition to a study, library, drawing room or office.  This type of furniture works beautifully in a modern setting too adding texture and contrast.  In excellent antique condition, this is an exquisite piece of history.
